Munitions Factory Explosion Memorial, by Paul Margetts.
This sculpture commemorates the Ashton munitions explosion of 13 June 1917
when 5 tons of TNT exploded at the Hooley Hill Rubber and Chemicals factory.
It left 46 dead and over 400 injured, many of them children on the way home from school.


This strange post is in a back street off St. Petersfield.
