The Whitworth Hall

The Whitworth Hall and the adjoining Manchester Museum
are part of the University of Manchester.  The Grade II* listed
building was constructed c. 1895-1902, and was designed by
Paul Waterhouse.  It is named after the Mancunian industrialist
Sir Joseph Whitworth, who bequeathed much of his
fortune to fund public developments in Manchester.
