7 Jan 19       After almost dead calm yesterday the storm hit with a vengeance.
115mph winds recorded at Cairngorm, a sandstorm on Thurso beach  (more here)
and disruption around the county.

We finished off inside the roof.

Meanwhile, our own little drama began to enfold.  As the wind raged out outside
we were having a coffee when we suddenly noticed the ladder was moving!
 Fortunately I'd left the safety rope between the hooks at the top so we
moved the slab further in and put some extra weight on it.

At the other side we lashed it to the gate.

At least the chimney hasn't moved!
