5 June 16 Dumfries and Galloway. Coastal walk to Portpatrick. Overcast and very hazy at first, brighter later but still hazy.
I was staying at the Caravan Club CL site at Port o'Spittal, about three miles south of Portpatrick.
A path can be followed from the site along the coast north to Portpatrick.
Footbridge over the Craigoch Burn on the coast path.
Dunskey Castle at Castle Point.
Dunskey Castle, a 12th century tower house.
The harbour. Portpatrick was once an important port for ferries to Ireland.
Heading back along the coastal path.
Around Tandoo Point.
Morroch Bay, looking much better in the bright sunshine.
The path skirts above Port of Spittal Bay and the Knockinaam Lodge Hotel.
Common Spotted Orchid, Dactylorhiza fuchsii.
Bracket fungus on a tree trunk.
Belted Galloway cow.
