15 Oct 11   Glossop to Edale, making use of a Wayfarer Ticket issued by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).
Bus into Manchester, train to Glossop, over the tops via Doctor's Gate, Mill Hill and the Kinder Scout plateau to Edale,
a pint in the Old Nag's Head, train back to Manchester, bus back home - and all for a fiver... (except for the pint
in the Old Nag's Head which unfortunately isn't included in the ticket..!)

Mainly sunny, cloudier for a time in the afternoon.

The Doctor's Gate track crosses Shelf Brook, Bleaklow.

Now there's a welcome sight...!

A Sheffield train at Edale station.

Ashton New Road, outside the City of Manchester Stadium.  Bad timing - I caught the end of the Manchester City
home match with Aston Villa.  I should have had another pint and got the next train.  Stuck on the bus for about
half an hour - I could have walked home in that time but I didn't fancy fighting my way through the crowd.
City won 4-1.
