15 July 11  A trip on the new Metrolink line to Chorlton.  Mainly sunny.

The first section of the new South Manchester line opened while I was away in Scotland so I went along today to have a look.
It's open as far as St. Werburgh's Road in Chorlton and is currently being extended as far as Didsbury (due to open in the
summer of 2013) and maybe one day as far as Stockport.  St. Werburgh's Road is where the Airport line will branch off;
work has just started on this line which is due to open in 2016.

Cornbrook stop.  This is on the existing Altrincham line where the Eccles/MediaCity line branches off.
 At the moment there is a shuttle service between MediaCityUK and Piccadilly Station but this is due
to change to a Cornbrook-MediaCity shuttle at some point - hence the new cabin,
a mess hut for the drivers and other staff.

Over to Salford Quays where the MediaCity piazza is piled high with Music Boxes

Clearing floating debris in the Ship Canal.

Not very hi-tech but it does the job.
